neowa GmbH commenced operation in January 2015. The company's original guiding principle was "we design waste," reflecting the focus on planning construction and operation of waste management systems. In that first year, Nehlsen AG became a partner and shareholder. Together the two companies founded neocomp GmbH as a joint venture, focusing on recycling rotor blades – one of the first steps towards sustainable disposal of waste from the wind energy industry.
In 2016, neowa completed its first rotor blade projects for well-known manufacturers and was awarded the renowned GreenTec Award in 2017. 2018 was a year of milestones: operation of two waste material processing plants in Bremen, the industrial project "Jade" in collaboration with Papier- und Kartonfabrik Varel in Varel, as well as the largest rotor blade project even today, processing 1700 tons of waste and with approval in accordance with the Federal Immission Control Act.
That same year, neowa and its partners in the industry initiated the founding of RDRWind e.V. neowa became a member of the board, contributing to drafting the technical standard DIN SPEC 4866, developed between 2018 and 2020. Another treatment plant in Brake was planned and constructed, beginning operation in 2020.
Joining the field of technical dismantling of wind energy plants in 2020 was the start of strategic advancement: neowa focused on building the skills required for disassembly, recycling and project control, establishing itself more and more as a general contractor for renaturation projects. In 2021, neowa was granted certification according to ISO 9001:2015 and was officially recognized as a specialist in the waste disposal industry.
Between 2023 and 2024, the company realigned itself as part of a restructuring. The refuse-devised fuel treatment plant in Brake was decommissioned to focus more clearly on the dismantling of wind energy plants. In 2024, there was a change in shareholders: neowa is now part of the Vida group. Along with its affiliate Vento, neowa is the cornerstone of a service platform for the wind energy industry, bundling a wide range of services related to operation, maintenance and renaturation. We already offer maintenance, rotor blade servicing and replacement of large components – with the goal of creating synergies, simplifying processes and generating quantifiable added value for both operators and project developers.
Another significant event in 2024 was the expansion of our technical equipment, adding a mobile sawing device to expertly dismantle rotor blades directly on site. Successful certification according to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 in 2025 emphasizes our high standard regarding quality, responsibility towards the environment and occupational safety.
